I Am Thankful For Water

I'm serious. Have you ever stopped to think about how incredible water is? And that so many of us have it in such abundance? It's everywhere.

Think about all the ways we use water. We clean everything with it. And when you think about it, that's really pretty weird. (In order to get one substance off, we douse it with another substance?) We put water all over our floors, our walls, we soak our clothes in it. It's in our toilets and used for waste removal. Heck we pour it all over ourselves to clean ourselves! Is there any other liquid you'd do that with?

But that's not all!

We drink it (frozen, refrigerated, boiled,) we cook with it and make tea, coffee, soup, steamed or boiled vegetables... We use it topically to keep warm or to cool off, to ease muscle pain or to reduce swelling. We give it to our pets, we put it on our lawns and in our plants.

We play with it in pools, water parks, sprinklers, water pistols, water balloons.... water is used just for fun!

For most people reading this blog, it flows freely out of faucets in our kitchens and bathrooms. Think about that. It's just there! You can have as much of it as you want! And not just you but everyone in your community. It's available to all of them in that abundance too!

And did you ever really take a look at water? It's totally see-through! (Well... for most people reading this blog it is!) But seriously, how cool is that? It's this "thing" with substance, and it's 100% see-through! And let's not forget that it just falls out of the sky like magic. -And snow and all the incredible uses and fun that snow provides? That could be a whole other entry.

Yeah... water is pretty amazing. And I am just weird enough to think about that quite often. I really do. I look at it and think "This is so cool... and I can't believe that it's just here."

Random Blogger Questions

I spent some time clicking through the Random Questions that Blogger asks you when you set up your profile page. Here are my answers to 10.

  1. You're going to the moon! What did you forget to pack?

    Oxygen.

  2. You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.

Sooner or later, someone's going to notice that their water tastes funny.

  3. You've rented a sky-writer to propose to your significant other, but it's completely overcast. What will you do?

Pick them up in the plane, fly them someplace with better weather, drop them off, write the message.

  4. How is an ankle unlike a consequence?

A well structured ankle is flexible. A well structured consequence is not.

  5. The love potion you made tastes terrible. How will you drink it?

Ummmm.... shouldn't I be giving it to someone else?

  6. You've got to make contact with the alien leader. How will you tell when the conversation is finished?

I'm thinking that when they try to insert the probe the conversation will be pretty much done.

  7. Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?

    Yes. Yes it is.

  8. Which is easier to make a model airplane out of and why: a banana peel or a wet sock?

A wet sock. Better aerodynamics (Really. Try throwing both across the room. I'll wait...)

  9. When you open your eyes underwater, do you ever worry that you'll drown?

That depends on how I came to be under water.

  10. What would you name your ballet inspired by the sight of children leaping through a garden sprinkler?

Les petits enfants mouillés qui sautent.

I Am Thankful For Hillary!

-Because Hillary wrote my very first comment on this blog AND she "friended" me on NaBloPoMo so I no longer have to see "You have no friends" on my profile page! She's also freakishly happy and functional and a lot of fun to read about on her blog. (Unless you don't like freakishly happy and functional people... in which case her blog would be a real drag!)

I Am Thankful For My Computer

I know that may sound shallow and materialistic but I've been on the darned thing all day and I am really thankful for my computer. It makes so many things in my life much easier including holiday shopping, grocery shopping, finding information (research, phone numbers, zip codes, business hours), paying bills, searching for alien life forms...

Ok, I actually haven't done that last one in a while but for several years it was fun to tell people "Oh that? That's just my computer Searching for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence in the universe."

I Am Thankful For...

I decided that during NaBloPoMo, in addition to regular blogging, I was going to try to blog about one thing I was grateful for every day. This is easy for me because I take nothing and no one for granted. I am extremely lucky and have a lot to be thankful for. This isn't to say that I don't have bad days or that crappy things never happen to me! But that doesn't change how truly fortunate I am in other areas. I never lose sight of that.

Of course because this is the Internet and there really is a group for everything out there, I discovered that there's a Group of bloggers who plan to write about something they're thankful for every day during NaBloPoMo. So I joined! :)

30 Days Of Thanks

#3560

It's official. I've signed up and I am now NaBloPoMo member number #3560.

(And according to my profile page I have "no friends!")

NaBloPoMo

Ok, so here's the thing... I've been writing plenty. But what I haven't been doing is posting! Part of that is because I haven't finished the blog layout, part of that is because I rarely, if ever, share anything personal on the Internet and it's an awkward step for me to take. So I figured I'd jump in with both feet and give this a try for real during NaBloPoMo.

Qu'est-ce Que C'est NaBloPoMo?

NaBloPoMo is short for National Blog Posting Month. In order to participate in NaBloPoMo you need to have a blog, sign up, and then pledge to post every single day in November. I'm taking the plunge (and at the end of the month I'll see if this whole "blog thing" is really for me!)

Oh, and by the way, if I'm going to post something EVERY single day in November, I expect you folks to comment gosh darn it!

Here we go!
