I Talk To Bugs
My friends find these conversations amusing and have suggested that I record them and sell them on ebay. But really, all I'm ever trying to do is explain to the bugs that I'm not trying to hurt them, and that they should stop running away and making things difficult, because the only thing I'm trying to do is take them to a window so they can go back outside.
Most don't seem to believe me and lead me on a 15 minute (or more) goose bug chase.
Today a little one crawled onto my hand. Then fell onto my desk. Then we I talked as I scooped him into my other hand, which it let me do. Then we very calmly walked to a window and as soon as I put my hand outside it flew away. -I didn't even know it had wings.
It was so easy. I wish all of them were like that.

Most bugs that come into MY house just meet the bottom of my shoe. Hubby on the other hand will set SOME of them free... Not me..it's the shoe, toilet paper then flush or trash.. EWE...
I have to ask the obvious question. Do the bugs ever talk back to you?
MP: You and my old roommates would get along well.
Joe: No. But that doesn't prevent me from trying to make myself heard and understood. Isn't that all any of us really wants in this life? ;)
Unfortunately I think most of the time, all they hear is "Wah wah wah wah" and what they understand is "LARGE BI-PEDAL SPECIES APPROACHING AT 12 O-CLOCK!!!"
I don't like killing bugs either, I eel bad that they have to die on my account. And we do want to know if these bugs ever communicate their thanks to you?
To think I use index cards and glassware! I'm going to try my hand next time.
Hey there! Thanks for the flirting comment, yeah the "job" one is still amusing to some, but I'm glad someone else sees themselves saying something like that. Phew.
FYI: I totally talk to bugs too. Or moreso I'm talking myself down from freaking out when I see/kill/clean them up.
hah. totally depends on the bug, for me. crickets? outside! ladybugs? outside! ants? DIE DIE DIE YOU MULTIPLYING BASTARDS. spiders usually die too, since i'm allergic to their bites.
Abbie: Hey, leaving without biting me is thanks enough! Unfortunately, some probably are not very thankful since I think my bug wand pulls of a leg from time to time :(
...Ok, I could have sworn I wrote a post about my bug wand. I'll have to do that at some point.
Vanessa: I use the index card and glass method too. Or the "any kind of container" and "anything even remotely flat" method.
bayjb: I could (sadly!) see myself saying ALL of those things! Especially something like the "job" comment. I probably would have said something just as bad, like "Sleep." :D
Aice: You need a bug wand :) (and I need to write about mine. I really thought I had.)
Ah! Ok, I linked to one once. But I thought I'd written a whole post about mine too. Apparently not.
